10 years

I can't remember what I was doing yesterday at this time, let alone a week ago. I can, however, remember exactly where I was 10 years ago today. I was 18, just out of high school, working full time with my Mom at her job. It was a call center so naturally everybody was able to have radios and for some odd reason, tvs, on this day. We normally didn't get to have tv's out but someone got the ok. I guess it was a blessing in disguise because they saw first hand what was going on and let all of us know. It was one of those moments where you hear the news and you stay silent for what feels like an eternity trying to process the information.

Immediately, we got out other tvs and put them all over the room, still continuing to work, mind you, taking call after call after call. We watched what was going on and many co-workers actually had family there in New York, including me. Not family I was generally close to but family, none the less. Everybody was ok but our nation wasn't.

My job actually allowed us the option to leave and go to many of the churches that were holding services that day. Normally, being a typical teenager, I wouldn't care (I know, gasp) but this time, I did. The terrorist attacks were the first major thing happened in my lifetime that I can honestly say affected me not just on a personal level but on a level of caring for others.

I left with my Mom and a few of her friends and we went to church and came home for the day just watching the news. That was my day on September 11, 2001.

Thinking 10 years later and how much has happend is amazing. September 10, 2002 I met my future husband at work. 2 years later in November of 2004 we moved to Louisiana and were in hurricanes Katrina and Rita. 2 years later on September 1, 2006 we got married and 3 years later on December 31, 2009 we welcomed twin boys into the world.

That's a crazy 10 years right there! I'm so thankful to have the life I do whether it's perfect or not. Days will be hard for our family but not as hard as other families days on 9/11. I sometimes remind myself of that around this time of year.

We will never forget!

Labor day fun

I don't have many pictures or videos to show from this weekend but we had a blast. THREE movie date nights in with the hubby, TWO days out with the boys and ONE big shopping trip to the outlets. I got them pretty much set for fall/winter clothes and shoes until the new year. We ended the weekend with a bbq at my parents house and man, are they getting hilarious.

Everytime we go to my parents house, the boys love playing with the toy kitchen my Mom has for my niece when she is over there. Now that the boys are getting older, they love playing with it. Not sure where Jaxson learned it, maybe from our heavy baby einstein or yo gabba gabba tv watching, but he kept walking around holding up the banana and saying 'nanana', 'nanana'. Then he would give a cheesy smile.

Jayce on the other hand is my dare devil child who likes to stand on the ottomans, jump as high as he can and belly flop onto the couch. He was doing this repeatedly to my Mom and we all could not stop laughing. Then, of course, he laughed louder because we all were laughing and in the midst of all the laughing, Jaxson walks into the room saying 'nanana' which made us all laugh even harder.

Such a good weekend! Now that it is FINALLY cool fall weather (crosses fingers it stays like this), it'll be time for apple picking, pumpkin picking and the zoo. I can't wait too see what fall has in store for us this year!

Hurdles....

or so it seems! Jaxson has officially learned how to get out of his crib. Thankfully Jayce is still in prison (aka his crib) but for now, Jaxson is jumping hurdles over the side of his crib. He was found this morning on the floor in the middle of the room playing with all his stuffed animals. We don't keep any toys or anything else in their reach so there's not much he can get into so that's good.

Now the debate has begun: do we switch his crib to the toddler bed side or let him keep jumping over? And if we switch, do we switch Jayce's as well or just Jaxson's?

I think I have decided for now to hold off and not jump the gun. This only started yesterday. He has taken both his naps in his crib today so it's not that he won't stay in, just that he wants to get out and play as if saying 'I'm not ready to go to bed yet'.

I guess we'll see what the next week hold...................you may soon see a post about new beds!
