What a year

As always, we end the year off with the boys birthday. Obviously not something we planned but on this day, 2 years ago, I went in for my normal NST in the morning and wanted chinese for lunch. Little did I know that a few hours later, I'd actually be HAVING my babies!

It went something like this..................I was with my Mom and Dad because my hubby had to work in the morning (I was on bedrest) and he isn't a fan of chinese so my parents and I were just going to go by ourselves and drop me off at home when we were done. There was snow on the ground = snow banks and the chinese place was on a busy street and a car was trying to get out so we had to wait to get in. 2 cars were behind us stopped and apparently the 3rd car wasn't paying attention and it turned into a 4 car fender bender.

Even though I was just at my doctor's and just had some minor lower back pain, they wanted me to go in. I, of course, sat in ER F.O.R.E.V.E.R and they paged my doc when I was done there and he wanted me to go up to L&D to have another NST. I went up there and the nurse checked after I got settled in the bed and was told news that would change my life: "Oh my, you are 4cm dilated. We need to prep you for your c-section within the hour".

Immediate shock came over me, then excitement and then worry. I was 36w and 4d. I made it to the point my doctor wanted me to. I had my c-section scheduled in just 2 short weeks but I guess these boys were coming early.

I was prepped and ready to go. First was Jaxson Joseph weighing in at 5lbs 10oz at 5:49pm.

Next in line was Twin B, Jayce Roger weighing 6lbs 2oz and also born at 5:49pm (Yes, they WERE born the same minute 40 seconds apart).

And just like that, in a matter of an hour, I was the mother of two boys. It was a blessing to have carried them so long and be as healthy as I could for them. Looks like my work paid off! No NICU time. I was in the hospital for 4 days and off we went to be a family!

It was a New Years Eve I will never forget and in turn, New Years Eve will never be the same. We will always have a birthday to celebrate and good stories to share. We even made it our own family tradition to have chinese on this day since that is where I was headed when I went into labor.

As my boys turn 2 this year, I look back at all the accomplishments they've made for being preemies. They were both sleeping by 3 months and 6 months respectively (not an accomplishment but wanted to throw that in there!), they were both walking by 11 months and now they are talking/babbling up a storm. They learn new words everyday and we are just working on putting them together.

2012 will be an equally rewarding year for the new addition of a baby brother/sister in July! I can't wait to see what God has in store for us but if it's anything like he's blessed us with so far, it'll be a great year!

Happy New Year!

What a wonderful Christmas

I know Thanksgiving has already passed but I was SO thankful this Christmas season for everything that God has given me and my family. The boys knew how to open presents this year, even opening other family members' presents. They also understood a little more of what was actually taking place which was very cool to see from last year to this year.

One highlight was Jaxson opening a bag full of elmo goodies from my Mom/Dad. I have never seen him get SO excited and shout as much as he did. He got pajamas, a book and a t-shirt. He took out that tissue paper and shouted 'mimi, mimi' (aka elmo). It was so cute!

Jayce also surprised us by being as into Santa as he was when he visited our house. My Dad dresses up every year for the kids and brings a sack full of toys, one for each person in the family, even the adults to show the kids that Santa comes for us, too. Jaxson just cried and Jayce went up to him and sat on his lap and got an elmo mini stuffed animal (just his size) and some figurines.

It was a great Christmas and next year will be even that much more wild and crazy but we'll have our new addition to be thankful for next year.

Feels like yesterday.......

I can't believe in a few short days (okay, really like a week or so) my babies will be 2!

It feels like yesterday I was so pregnant I could hardly walk

And then instantly, in the matter of an hour, I was a mother of two beautiful boys

Really? Where does the time go?

These boys have accomplished so much in their time on this earth so far from coming out healthy and happy to walking at 11 months (Man, that was a crazy time for mommy and daddy)! I can only hope this next year will be another year of major accomplishments for them.

They will have a big adjustment when their new baby brother/sister enters this world and we'll do this alllll over again! I'm so thankful I've been given that chance to bring another life into this world and raise them the best I can!

What a relief

I thought the spotting I had with the twins was scary! Starting late last night I passed a small clot and had bleeding. FREAKED.ME.OUT! I didn't want to get too upset and cry because that wouldn't do much so I calmly called the on call doctor and by the time she called back, it was just pink. It was on and off bright red blood all night/morning. I stayed home from work so I could get into the doctor as soon as I could to make sure my peanut was doing ok!

After a whole fiasco with the doctors office.............LONG STORY.............I get there and see my baby on ultrasound, heartbeat fluttering away at 144bmp and already sprouting arms/legs. I still find it amazing how fast the baby can grow in a days time let alone a week!

I apparantly had sub chroionic bleeding which is where the uterus lining is bruised from the fertilized egg implanting and it just bled out. It seems to have stopped now. I was told it may happen again or go on for a bit but should clear up on it's own. I should worry if I'm soaking through a pad. If that doesn't happen, I'm good!

I'm SO happy and relieved with the news! I don't know I'd do without prayer! 'Tis the season!

WOW!

2 weeks later and it's still so hard to believe that I'm expecting another chicken nugget (or two). The boys know that there is a baby in mama's belly and they are always pointing to it. I think they will be a perfect age to have a new little one in the house. They both already help out tremendously and like to do what you say so I'm sure it won't be that hard of a transition.

I go on Monday for my first ultrasound and I can't wait! I'm excited my hubby gets to go with me this time since he never came last time since I went unexpectedly and he couldn't leave work. This will be an awesome new experience for the both of us!

On a different note, the boys have just been teething like mad lately. Jayce already has 2 of the 4 molars in and Jaxson is still working on getting at least 1 of his.

Thanksgiving was also a hit this year since they are eating more solids than last year and both boys looked so cute in their outfits. I have a soft spot for sweater vests, I guess.

All in all, it's been a crazy 2 weeks and I'm sure it'll get even crazier!
